This Week In The UFC June 13th

What an exciting and yet sad week it has been for fight fans around the world, between the loss of “The greatest Of All Time” Mohamed Ali, and Kimbo Slice, the Ariel Helwani drama and Brock Lesnar news, to Micheal Bisping shocking the world with a first round KO win over Luke Rockhold, making him the first man in the UK to ever wear the UFC championship belt.

Following his historic win at UFC 199 it didn’t take long before someone called Mike Bisping out for a title shot, Dan Henderson, Luke Rockhold, and Chris Weidman began scratching at the champions door. During an interview with ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, Bisping shared his thoughts concerning a rematch with Luke Rockhold saying,

“As of right now, Luke Rockhold will not be my first defense. That’s a fact, I had to go away and beat three more guys before I got a second shot at Luke. certainly after his behavior on Saturday, he should have to go away and do the same.”

Following this statement Chris Weidman took to his twitter where he called out Bisping, that started a “Twitter War”,

In other news, Anthoney Pettis makes the move to Featherweight after losing his last two fights. Pettis had brought this up before and was supposed to fight Jose Aldo awhile back, however the fight never happened and Pettis never changed weight classes. This is most likely the smartest move right now for him even though featherweight is currently one of the more talented divisions in the UFC at the moment with fighters like Conor McGregor, Frankie Edgar, Max Holloway and Jose Aldo in the mix, it’s not going to be an easy road to the top by any means.

During the week a disturbing video of Robbie Lawler talking about his fight that fell through with Conor McGregor surfaced, where Lawler addresses that if the fight did happen that he wouldn’t have taken his neck like Nate Diaz did, he said instead he would have taken his soul.
